EXPERT 1

Insights

1. wanted her husband to be at home than hospital
2. didn't want anyone from the hospital to come and take care of him she wanted to do it.
3. one son was able to make peace but the other didn't get a chances to.

Even though it was a little hard to take care of him she would rather have her husband home than a hospital. i thought that this idea was a good idea because in a hospital you really don't get the rest you need i feel than at home where you feel more safe because you know the people who are in the house on top of that you know your in a safe place. Another good thing that came out of this was that they were able to spend as much time as possible together which made the bonds they had stronger and for them to get even more closer than they were before. Another thing she said which i also like was how she didn't want anyone from the hospital to take care of him, how she wanted to do it herself. I think for him this was good because its better to have someone you love and trust taking care of you than some random stranger that you really don't know. The other insight that she said was how when her husband pass away the youngest son was able to say his final goodbyes and also make peace with his dad, but the other son didn't get to. I understood that the oldest son was really close to his dad and she didn't think he could handle seeing him like that but i think that he still should have had the chances to make peace and say the final goodbyes because not doing that kind of leaves the oldest son with bottled up emotions that he never really got a chances to let out, and maybe be able to see his dad and make peace could have helped in a way.

HW 18

When it comes to thankgiving for me its pretty much the samething every year where we all go to my grandmothers house everyone tends to make alot of food and from there we just talk and eat. i think that the food is the main event because thankgiving pretty much just revolves around food. what we do before we start eating is that someone at the table would say grace and that person would usally pray for love ones that they might have lost or other things they feel they need to pray for. Also the other thing thats tend to happen is we watch football while we are eating because at the time we are sit down to eat thats the only good thing to watch every year. One thing that happens afterwards is that people tend to get very lazy afterwards and they just want to sit down and not do anything or just watch TV and the main reason for that is we see all this food there so we try to eat as much as we can than we overdue it to a point where we get really lazy.

HW 17

My experences to illness and dieing hasnt been that extreme i can say. when it comes to the illness part i can relate a little bit because i get the common cold once and a while which is normal because mostly everyone gets the cold here and there. other than that i havent really experenced any real bad illness besides that. when it comes to the death part i can also relate as well because a few years ago my godmother died. it was a big deal to be because i was close to her so the day that she died was a very sad day. besides that i havent experences any other deaths in the family. the way i was tought to think about illness and dieing was not to really talk about it because there both of those things are not something you really want to talk about. because when you do it kind of gets depressing and sad depending on if the person is really sick or if the person has passed away. The social norm i feel is the same as i learn where you really tend not to talk about it and sort of ignore it because these topics are depressing. I think that the reason people dont like talking about both of these things because at one point or another its going to happen to all of as where we might get really sick or we might pass away and life so short that people try to ignore it as much as they can because they dont want to think about it happening to them.

HW 11 - Final Food Project 1

For this part of the project i was going to change my diet which was going to be not eating meat for a few days. The first day was pretty Ok for breakfast i didn't eat anything because i Dont really eat breakfast and i woke up late. for lunch i had a soup which contained no meat. One thing i did notice after eating the soup was i didnt feel to full i felt just right which was cool. in between lunch and dinner i didn't have anything. for dinner i had pasta. after i ate it i felt a little more fuller than how i felt for lunch but not over doing it. The next day i didn't eat any breakfast, for lunch i had a a slice of pizza which was good. for a snack i ended up having a banana. for dinner i ended up having cereal which was also good.
My experience even though it was a short one was that being a vegetarian is not that hard when you eat something different each time. if i were to keep going with this it might start getting a little harder just because you haven't eaten meat for awhile and other people around you are and you kind of feel like doing it, but other than that if you keep doing this and not eating meat you will end up not feeling the need to eat meat anymore.

HW 10 - Food, Inc. Response

The main points of the film that we watched i think were to inform people on what these big companies were doing to the food that they are eating. not only does this film show the harmful things we put in our body each day but also show as how corrupt these major companies are as a whole, from making laws to protect them self from people ban mouthing the company or to avoid laws that can harm them. these company's do not play fair and do not really care about anyone else but them self.
One major thing that the movie Food Inc had over the book "fast food nation" was you were really able to see some of the horrible things that these companies do to the animals and also to the workers. Its one thing to read about these things happening but in a movie they can really throw it in your face and you really get to see what's going on. What the book can offer though is very rich information because for a movie there's only so much information that they can put inside a movie and they tend to only put the major issues and cut out the rest. But in a book there is no limit to how much information a person can put it in so your not left with losing some information like a movie.
I feel like these company's really get away with a lot. No one really calls them out on it because there such a big company that they can afford lawyers and they also have people working in washington DC for them that its hard to fight them. The only way i see a change happening if the a lot of people like most of the country stop eating at these fast food places. In doing this you would see a big chance because they would be losing money and end up not affording people they hare in washington which will end up forcing them to comply to the rules like health guide lines and other things. I don't see this happening anytime soon though so for now companies will just keep doing what they do even though its wrong.

Chapter 10

Chapter 10

One major thing that the fast food companies were wanting to do was to expand there chains overseas to make more money. The first major company to do this was Mcdonalds. Since mcdonalds was able to do this thats what lead the way to other company's reaching out and expanding there chains overseas as well. which in the long run helped all the fast food company's because there were not longer making just money in the US but now overseas as well.

"we've got the fattest, least fit generation of kids ever" (Pg240)

Its kind of crazy the power that these fast food people have when they set a goal they really try to finish it at any cost. also they are very good at avoiding problems without getting in to trouble.
